U.S.-based missionary organization Serge confirmed that its doctor, Peter Stafford, contracted the Bundibugyo strain of the virus after treating patients at a local hospital.
Two other missionaries who were also involved in patient care — including Stafford’s wife — have not shown symptoms and are currently under quarantine as health authorities respond to a growing outbreak in the region.
