A teacher who also serves as a lawmaker in West Virginia has been accused of engaging in inappropriate communication with a 15-year-old student, according to authorities. The suspect, 36-year-old David Elliott Pritt, is alleged to have contacted the student through online platforms, including Roblox and Snapchat, while she was in middle school. Investigators say the communication later became inappropriate and continued after both were at the same high school. According to an arrest affidavit, the interactions reportedly extended over several months and included private meetings at the school. Authorities said the communication continued until mid-2026, when the student’s family reported the situation to law enforcement. Pritt has been arrested and is facing federal charges related to the alleged conduct. House Speaker Roger Hanshaw described the allegations as “shocking, disgusting and disappointing,” adding that Pritt has been removed from his roles in the House. He also called on him to resign from office. Local school officials confirmed they are cooperating with investigators as the case proceeds.
